Happy Anniversary... Nads' Bakery!

Disneyland Cake
(An "audition" cake I made for one of Disneyland's hotel.  I didn't get the job..)
So.. today marks the 1 year anniversary of the start of this blog.  I can't believe it's been a year since my very first post.  Before I follow-up on my last post on Father's Day and my friend's birthday/engagement, I thought I'd take a brief moment to look on past posts that I am very fond of.

In no particular order, here are my top 5 posts.

Mr. Marshmallow Snow Man - December 5th, 2009

 Snow man

With credit to Martha Stewart's Cupcake Book I made my own spin on this cute Christmas cupcake.  I just think the finished product was so freaking cute.

The Shake Shack - April 30th, 2010

ShakeShack_Dripping

More than the food, which was fabulous don't get me wrong, it was one of the best eating experiences during my visit to Philly.. although this was was in New York.  The weather was like a gorgeous day in California, I had a delicious mushroom burger LOADED with cheese, a scrumptious ice cream cone with a dear friend in a beautiful park.  Plus.. I really liked the photos I took.  Haha they turned out really well.

Coconut Macaroons 2

This was a recipe I learned during culinary school and one that I've perfected over the years.  It's one of my favorite recipes because of its simplicity and utter deliciousness.  This turned me from a coconut hater to a coconut LOVER.

Jae's Decorated Cookies - May 22nd, 2010

Jae 3

It's rare that I am 100% proud of the things I make/create.  I'm a perfectionist and about 99.9% of the time it doesn't turn out the way I had originally envisioned in my head.  But with these decorated cookies I made for my very good friend's birthday, I couldn't be happier with the end result.  I was really excited to give these to her.. and she absolutely LOVED them.  Nothing feels better than someone appreciating the long, LONG hours you took to create something you made for the other person.

Conquering... the Macaron - May 26th, 2010

Chocolate Macarons 3

I felt such a deep sense of satisfaction and joy when these beautiful confections came out of the oven with the gorgeous smooth tops and the crinkly "feet".  It was another proud moment for me.  That, as you may know, was short lived.  The photos turned out beautifully and it tasted just as good as it looked.

It's been fun documenting my baking adventures and I hope you've had fun as well.  This blogging thing has almost turned into a part-time job but I'm enjoying it very much.  My photography skills have exponentially grown with the purchase of my Nikon D90 and hopefully more so with the purchase of another lens in the future.

Also to commemorate this one year anniversary I'll post some photos of the things I've made before this blog came to be.
