A friend of mine works for Disney and one of the great benefits of working for the Disney company is that they get the first showing of all the new attractions. Last week, we were able to go see the new water show at California Adventure called World of Color. If you've seen the water show in front of the Bellagio in Las Vegas then you'll have an idea of what this show looks like.
Even though we got special tickets to see the show, we still had to get in line to get a fast pass then come back and wait. Before we went, we got lunch at the Pacific Wharf Cafe where they sell bread bowls by Boudin's.
The line as out the door. I didn't much feel like a heavy chowder in a bowl so I was glad to see that they had salad in a bowl! They also had a bakery case with lots of baked goods.
They had these breads that were in the shape of Mickey. It was kind of funny.
Speaking of Mickey shaped foods, they also had Mickey sugar cookies!
In all honesty, I knew it wasn't going to be that good but I decided to get it anyway. When we got our food my Asian Chicken Salad looked amazing! I'm sure half of it was bread but it definitely looked impressive.
My friend ordered the Clam Chowder and... well, look at the two:
I don't know if they did that on purpose or not but it was a little ridiculous. I think I'll stick with the salad if I ever go back there.
So for dessert I had the Mickey cookie. It was covered with chocolate and Mickey's face was white chocolate.
First bite, NOT GOOD. But the more and more I ate it... the better it got! It was especially good at 11PM while we were waiting for the shuttles.
My friend and I had kind of the same reaction to the show. While it was good... there wasn't anything about it that made it SPECTACULAR. Still can't really pin point what it was. They supposedly spent over $150 million on it so that they could drive more traffic into California Adventure. Hhhmmm don't know it it'll do the trick.. but I heard it's easy to change the show so I guess we'll have to see.

Looks like such a fun day! And I just Boudin bread. One of the great things about living in SF!
ReplyDeleteI know! As soon as you walked in you could smell the sourdough bread.. Delicious!
