One of the places both Jackie and I wanted to hit up in New York was Serendipity 3. I had gone to the Serendipity 3 in Las Vegas which I briefly mentioned in an earlier post. The one in Vegas had bright pink walls and from what I heard, it was nothing like the original in New York. They were right. As soon as you step in you feel as if you're in someone's home with all of their random collection of stuff on display.

The decor was also very random. Unfortunately, the only lens I have is a 50mm f/1.8 so even though I wanted to take photos of the inside everything looked very close up. Here are just a couple I managed to get:

We were stuffed from our burgers we had just eaten maybe less than an hour ago so we tried to order just the Frozen Hot Chocolate. It turned out they have a minimum of one order per person. Really?? Spend at least $8 per person of you can't eat in there? That was a bit irritating but I just ended up ordering a cappuccino I didn't really want to drink.

I had gotten the Peanut Butter Frozen Hot Chocolate in Vegas and it was good. We ordered the original this time. It was yummy.. but there was too much whipped cream. I guess they have to make it look worth your $10.50 somehow.

Jackie was really happy.

Cappuccino was.. ok. I don't normally drink cappucinnos so I didn't know if it was supposed to be not as strong. I drink coffee extremely strong so I was hoping for something more intense. Oh well. We got what we came for.

After our delicious Frozen Hot Chocolate we walked through Central Park to make our way to our next stop: shopping in SoHo. It was really a beautiful day. We accidentally stumbled across the Plaza Hotel. As soon as I saw it I immediately thought of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Very cool to see something you remember so vividly from a childhood movie right in front of your face. There was a small pond close to where we came in.

The park was gorgeous. We stayed pretty much on the outer edge of it but the small portion I saw was beautiful. Lots of joggers too. Another thing I recognized immediately:

I don't remember exactly where I saw this statue but I know it's been in several movies. Down to You with Freddie Prinze Jr. was one.. can't remember the others.

As we were walking around we stumbled upon the mall that had Bouchon Bakery in it. Jackie as mentioning to me how she had wanted to try Bouchon the last time she was in the area but didn't get a chance to. This wasn't on our list of places to hit up but since we were so close we made a slight detour. It's located on the third floor of the Time Warner Center.

When you get off the escalator you see the dining area. It's out in the open so it threw me off. I wasn't sure if I had to sit down in order to get a macaron so I wandered around. It turns out off to the left side was the dessert/pastry cases.

Don't know what the logic behind that was...

The macaron I had at the Bouchon Bakery in Vegas was so delicious I had to get 2: one vanilla and one pistachio.

My theory on why this was and is so delicious is the size. It's huge. It takes at least 3 bites to eat all of it. With the size of the actual macaron the filling has to be comparable. So with each bite comes a big bite of filling as well.. which in this case was a buttercream. YUM. Prior to this macaron we had gotten macarons at 2 other places. Both were not very good. Bouchon Bakery is still #1 in my book when it comes to macarons. But that's not saying much considering my limited knowledge and experience of macarons.
